Kathleen Slezak
Studio Director

Kathleen graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology and minor in Chemistry. Kathleen has always had  a passion for the performing arts. She was fortunate to study with, mentor under, and eventually take over for the late Sandra Brewer. Kathleen was a member of the Michigan State University Dance Team, and the professional dance teams for the Detroit Motor City Mustangs and the Detroit Pistons.


Kathleen has also worked professionally as model, actress in commercials, a dancer at the Fox Theater in Detroit, ensemble in the touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar, and professional choreographer for an unreleased feature film. Kathleen helped start the Goodrich High School and Davison Middle School dance teams, coached the Anchor Bay Varsity Cheer Team, Goodrich Varsity Dance Team, Davison Middle cool Dance Team, and coached the only Davion Varsity Dance Team hat attended the national Dance Team Championship three years in in a row in Orlando, Florida. She continues her dance education annually, attending dance teacher and studio owner conventions and training under many professional instructors. Kathleen is the artistic director and main choreographer at the studio. She is trained in and teaches all genres of dance including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, adagio, and musical theater. The most rewarding part of owning a studio is seeing the joy in every student's eyes, the passion on their faces, and the progress of each student of every age. Megan Stone
Assistant Studio Director

Megan began dancing with Dance Connection at the age of three and has been working at the studio since 2013. Megan acts as assistant studio director under Kathleen and loves being able to help make all the magic happen behind the scenes. Megan teaches and choreographs for all DC companies, Adagio, the 7's class, and the Adults. 


Megan loves the challenge of choreographing big productions and seeing students get excited about their dances. Megan attends the University of Michigan-Flint where she studies Elementary Education. She has always had a passion for working with kids and is grateful she is able to spend her time teaching kids how to dance while attending school. Megan spent time in Scottsdale, Arizona attending a Dance Teacher Conference where she expanded her dance education from directors and dancers from all over the country.  "Not every dancer will turn their love of the art from into a career, but every one of them will take the lessons they have learned in their training, choreography, and there performances to improve the quality of their life."

Ericka Lyons

Ericka is a teacher at Dance Connection. She is a teacher and choreographer for the company performers by night and a board certified IntraOperative Neurophysiologist by day. 

Ericka started her dance career at age three with Sylvia Studio of Dance/Ann Arbor Civic Ballet continuing to Sandra Brewer's/Dance Connection. She began assisting/teaching/choreographing at the age of fourteen and was Competition Director at age eighteen.

She has enjoyed choreographing and performing in many musical theater productions including "Millie"in Thoroughly Modern Millie and "Velma" in Chicago.  Ericka was involved in starting the Goodrich High School Dance Team which she was the captain of during her high school years. She has alway has a passion for dance and her favorite part is assisting students to become their own teachers.  There is nothing better than when a student hears your voice in their head. Rex Wilkes
Adagio Teaching Assistant

Rex has been at DC for many years, participating in the Adagio classes, Competition Groups, and adult class. Under Kathleen he advises the youth adagio boys and company classes. 

Rex also has musical theater experience, having appeared in musicals choreographed by Sandra Brewer such as Chicago and Legally Blonde where he was a dancer and ensemble member .

Kristin Moss

Kristin began dancing with Sandra Brewer's/Dance Connection the she was 5 years old. She has performed at Christmas at Whiting, Christmas Concerts, recitals, and theatrical productions throughout her childhood and adult years. Bye Bye Birdie and Damn Yankees are two of her favorites. 


Kristin has choreographed and worked on several school musicals with one of the best mentors in the business, Evie Zilinksi. Her favorite part of teaching dance is seeing a student work so hard to master a new step and the pride that comes from her students doing just that. "I can't do it...YET," is a motto she tries to instill in each of her students. Kristin teaches 5-8th grade Math at Clio Area Schools.

Lyniece Fenner

Lyniece is a teacher and assistant with Tap and Jazz for the Showstoppers company. Formerly she danced at DC and also participated in the musical theater class. 

By day Lyniece is a band director at Lapeer High School. Her favorite thing about dance is the performance! 

Tricia House

Tricia is a teacher at Dance Connection teaching company performers and Musical theater. She began dancing in first grade with Sandra Brewer's/Dance Connection, danced at the Flint School of Performing Arts, and performed in several theater productions. 


Tricia has danced and choreographed Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Ballroom, and Musical Theater for over 30 years. She served as regional competition judge for Dance Educators of America and was a middle school dance team coach and junior cheerleading coach.  By day she is a Strategic Consultant assisting companies across the globe with business process re0engineering and corporate transformation initiatives.

Karlee Pins

Karlee is a Tap and Jazz teacher at Dance Connection for the Showstoppers and Encore & More companies. She has danced since she was three years old and has been teaching dance for eight years. 

Karlee loves the art/sport of dance because it is a way to express yourself without even having to talk, interpreting a song, and performing it through dance. 

By day Karlee is a Geometry and Pre Calc/Trigonometry teacher at Bendle High School. 

Madison McAley

Madison is a teacher at DC with the company classes as well as the adult class. Madison is a former member of Encore and Adagio and danced and competed at DC. She is a college freshman at UM-Flint. Madison loves dance and has been dancing for fifteen years!  

Cymri MacDonald

Cymri is a ballet and tap teacher for the 3 and 5 year old dancers and also works with DC companies and adult classes. She is also a full time college student studying exercise science. Cymri has been dancing for nineteen years and loves the outlet dance gives her from tough situations and not loves that she can give kids the same experience. 

Teaching Assistant

Josie is a teacher's assistant at Dance Connection. She is a member of Encore and also in DC Musical Theater. Josie is proud to have been dancing at DC for thirteen years. 

Josie is a senior in high school and participates in her school's theater program. She loves that dance allows her to express herself in wats she can't with words. 


Teaching Assistant

Danielle is a teacher's assistant at DC and is a member of Encore and Adagio. She is a high school sophomore and has been dancing for eleven years. 

Danielle was awarded the title of Broadway Star when she performed her competition solo in March of 2018. She was a member of her middle school dance team, plays the trumpet in her high school marching band, and loves working with kids.

Natalie is an assistant at Dance Connection, helping with the 4 year olds and Hot Shots classes. She is a high school junior and is in Encore. Natalie participates in running, tennis, and swim and has been dancing for thirteen years.

Alayna is an apprentice assistant at Dance Connection and is a member of Encore & More and Adagio. She has been dancing at DC for ten years. In addition to dance, Alayna loves theater, reading, and playing percussion.

Jaimee is an apprentice assistant at Dance Connection who helps with the 7 year old class and is a member of Encore & More and Adagio. She is a freshman in high school and has been dancing for ten years! She was a member of her middle school dance team and also plays softball.

Alyssa is an assistant at Dance Connection in the 4 and 6 year old classes. She is a member of Encore and is a high school junior. Alyssa has been dancing for twelve years and was on her school dance team. In addition to dance, Alyssa likes to travel to new places.

Hannah is a member of Encore & More and Adagio and has been dancing for nine years. She is an apprentice assistant at DC helping with the 5,8, and 9 year olds.

Hannah is a middle school student, plays the flute in the school band, and loves to spend time with friends.

Alyssa is an apprentice assistant at Dance Connection and is a member of Encore & More and Adagio. She is an eighth grade honors student and has been dancing at DC for three years.

Peyton is an apprentice assistant at Dance Connection helping with the Showstoppers class. She is a freshman in high school and member of Encore & More and DC Musical Theater. Peyton has been dancing for twelve years and is also involved with 4H, band, and archery. 

Jack Slezak
Teaching Assistant

Jack competes as a member of DC's advaced adagio class as well as assists in adagio with younger company members. Jack is a high school student and also enjoys playing baseball.

Sam is a teaching assistant and works in the front office at Dance Connection. She is currently a college student majoring in Psychology and plans to specialize in Forensic Psychology during graduate school. Sam has danced at DC for sixteen years and has been behind the desk for three years!

Lisl Knizner
Social Media/Website

Lisl is a freelance marketing and social media consultant and runs the DC website and social media channels. Lisl joined Dance Connection when she was four years old, took a long break during high school and college, and came back in 2014. She is a member of the Adult Class and DC Musical Theater. 


Lisl enjoys being surrounded by others who love performing as much as she does and loves challenging herself to be a better singer & dancer every year.

Sue Mackenzie
Vocal Director

In addition to her long tenure at Dance Connection, Sue is a member of the Carolyn Mawby Chorale and teaches private vocal lessons to students. She is a former elementary school teacher and has performed in and Music Directed many community theater productions for Clio Cast & Crew, Savie Productions, and more with Sandra Brewer and Evie Zilinski. 

Lisa Capps
Musical Theater Vocal Coach

Lisa Capps is a Vocal Coach at Dance Connection as well as an experienced performer and teacher outside of the studio. Lisa works with DC musical theater students and on solo and group pieces for competition. She has worked professionally as an actress and instructor and has appeared in stage and television roles. She also teaches acting and voice privately to students of all ages.
